Holdenby House
During our Children in the Second World War Focus Week, the whole school visited Holdenby house for an evacuee experience. We all dressed in 1940s clothing and travelled to Holdenby with our gas masks and identity cards ready to be evacuated. During the day, we learned about food and clothing rationing, made a woolton pie and took part in some make do and mend activities. We also had an air raid experience and found out what it would be like to take cover in a Morrison and an Anderson shelter. To finish the day we sang some war time songs and the national anthem before being "evacuated" to the safety of the countryside. It was a truly memorable experience for us all.
