Remembrance Day 2024
During the month of November, the children learned about the importance of Remembrance Day at a national and local level. To mark this important event, we created a poppy remembrance garden by the school entrance which was greatly admired and appreciated by members of the village. We sold poppies to support the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal and explained how the Royal British Legion use the money raised from the sale of poppies to help those who have been injured in the various conflicts. Our oldest and youngest children made poppies to go in the Remembrance garden and our Year 6 children made poppies with the residents of Maids Moreton Hall.
The whole school also observed two minutes silence in memory of those who had been injured or killed in war, including the twelve Maids Moreton men who lost their lives in World War One. We visited the poppy garden at 11am on 11th November to listen to the Last Post and carry out our act of remembrance.
