World War 2-The Home Front

We had a truly memorable week learning all about the experiences of children in the Second World War. We learned about rationing, how to make do and mend, the blackout, air raids and what it would have been like to be a wartime evacuee. We really enjoyed dressing up in 1940s clothing and had a wonderful day out at Holdenby House where we went back in time to be evacuated. The week finished with a VE day celebration where we all relieved to hear that the war had been declared over. The week was a great success and made us all realise how challenging it must have been for families living during that time.
