Olympics Focus Week June 2016
During Olympics Focus Week, we learned all about the Olympics, the Paralympics and the Ancient Olympics. We also learned about Brazil, and Rio, the Host City of the 2016 Games. Every afternoon, we held a different competition and competed in teams across a range of Olympic and paralympic events. At the end of each competition, the winners were announced and medals awarded at the medal ceremony. The anthem of the winning country was played.
We learned a lot about Brazil and even held our own carnival and performed the samba! Mrs Black brought the Olympic torch that her sister carried as a torch bearer in the 2012 games. We also learned about the ancient Olympics and made olive wreaths. We finished the week with a closing ceremony and awarded gold, silver and bronze medals to the children in each class who had demonstrated the Olympic and Paralympic values over the week.
